Which Order Type?

Answer three quick questions to see which order type in QuickTrade Pro fits what you want to do.

Three Quick Questions

1. What do you want to do?

2. What matters most to you?

3. How long should the order stay active?

Your Order Type

Best Fit

Limit Order

You choose the price. A buy fills at your price or lower. A sell fills at your price or higher.

Good to Know

  • It may not fill if the market never reaches your price.
  • Only part of your order may fill at your price.

Choose it as the order type when you place the order in QuickTrade Pro.

Also Consider

Changed your mind? You can modify or cancel an order that has not been fully filled.

Orders Are Not Guarantees

Prices can move, and trading in a stock can be limited. An order may fill at a different price than you expected, only in part, or not at all.

How to Choose

  1. 1

    Price or Speed?

If the exact price matters, use a Limit order. If getting the trade done now matters more, use Market at Best.

  2. 2

    Protect or Take a Gain?

To plan a sale in advance, Stop Loss reacts to a fall and Take Profit reacts to a rise. Both are instructions you set before the price moves.

  3. 3

    Today or Later?

Orders last for the day unless you add Good Till Date. Pre-Market lets you place an order before the market opens.

Example: you own a share bought at ৳100 and want to limit the loss. You choose Stop Loss and set the level at ৳95, so a sell instruction is triggered if the price falls to that level.

Order Type Questions

What is the difference between a Limit order and Market at Best?
A Limit order fixes your price but may not fill. Market at Best trades now at the best available price, but the price can differ from the one you saw.
What is a Stop Loss order?
A Stop Loss is a sell instruction that is triggered if the price falls to the level you choose, to limit a loss. It is not a guarantee, because the price can fall past your level.
What is a Take Profit order?
A Take Profit is a sell instruction that is triggered if the price rises to the level you choose, so you can take a gain without watching the screen.
What does Good Till Date mean?
It keeps an order active until the date you choose instead of only for today. You can still modify or cancel it before then.
What is a Pre-Market order?
An order you place before the market opens so it is ready when trading starts.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Yes. QuickTrade Pro lets you modify or cancel an order that has not been fully filled.
What is Market Depth?
A view of the buy and sell orders waiting at different prices. It helps you judge how easily a share trades and at what price.
When can I trade?
The Dhaka Stock Exchange trades Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:10 pm. QuickTrade Pro is available around the clock, but trades happen when the exchange is open.

Quick Glossary

Order
Your instruction to buy or sell a number of shares.
Limit Price
The price you set. A buy fills at it or lower, a sell at it or higher.
Market Depth
The buy and sell orders waiting at different prices for a share.
Filled
An order that has traded. It can fill in full or in part.
Trigger
The price level at which a Stop Loss or Take Profit instruction is activated.

A guide for education and information only. How an order behaves depends on the market at the time. Orders may fill at a different price, in part or not at all, and a Stop Loss does not guarantee that you can sell at your chosen price. Share prices can fall as well as rise, and you can lose some or all of the money you invest. This is not investment advice and does not recommend any trade.
