A primary shares is where brand new shares (or bonds) are created and offered to the public (for example through an Initial Public Offering or IPO, mainly through lottery).
The secondary market is where after IPO, issued shares (or bonds) are traded, i.e.: the Stock Exchange (through regular buying and selling). Actually there is only one type of BO account. And you can use any BO account for both applying for IPO (primary) and also Buy & Sell shares (secondary). All BO accounts have the same functions.
An IPO, or initial public offering, is the process by which a privately held company begins selling stock to outside investors, thus becoming a public company. From that point on, the company can raise the capital it needs by selling shares, but it must also comply with a strict set of reporting guidelines, as established by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). An IPO is a subscription process where you simply apply for an IPO through Midway Securities Ltd. Based on overall demand for the IPO you will receive IPO shares. The service charge for applying for an IPO is only Tk. 10 total.
You can apply online for all the latest IPOs. Fill out the form and we will take care of the rest. Just make sure you have enough balance in your Midway BO account.
